Pat Benatar is one of the most influential female rockers in the industry; she is a four time Grammy winner and has influenced many female rockers. Her songs were nearly instant classics in the rock world and her live tours are exciting and fun, reflecting her personality. Although most of her performances were in the eighties, she continues to write music today, though due to family life, she doesn’t perform as much as she used to. However, her heart and soul are still in the music business and she still has a great deal of influence on later female performances.

Benatar was born in 1953 and was discovered in 1977 by the Chrysalis Record Company in a cabaret performance in New York. She was immediately signed on to the company and began producing songs through the eighties which became fast hits. Songs such as ‘Hit Me With Your Best Shot’ and ‘Fire and Ice’ which would be part of an album that would win her Grammys and a place in the hearts of many fans and as an inspiration to other women longing to be rockers like her. Her music would top charts and albums would sell millions through the eighties when she was most active. Her polished singing combined with very catchy music made her a near instant star on the stage and on the radio, as well as through the beginnings of the MTV era. However, she also performed through the nineties and began doing more live tours with her band and her family which they all enjoy doing anyway. Pat also does what many other bands fail at; she has successfully juggled her home life with her husband and fellow band member and their child, while still performing live tours even today.

Pat Benatar has done what many aspiring rockers dream of. She was accidentally discovered in a cabaret by the record company she would work with for fifteen years. She created several Grammy winning albums and many of her songs topped the charts. However, through it all, she has maintained a sense of humility about her success and managed to enjoy both her stage life and her home life without muddling either one up. Benatar is one of the best role models out there for aspiring musicians and even today, is a great singer to follow and try to emulate.
